Our chess classes for kids are for children under 14 years of age.
Beginner Classes
Is your child completely brand-new to chess? They should start here!
If your child is coming back to chess after an absence, they might skip Part I, if they are experienced and understand the Part I concepts well enough. A discussion with the Instructor before skipping Part I is advised.
Below are the topics that are covered in this 4-week course. Depending on how students progress, this course could be taken again to reinforce the student’s understanding of the basics.
Classes take place from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm most Mondays.

Advanced Classes
This is an 8-class, in-person chess course, in which students learn various concepts and principles surrounding a theme. Classes may be purchased and taken on an a la carte basis with the instructor’s permission.
A CFC rating of 1000+ is generally a suitable range for students attending this course. However, the depth of the content for this course may be adjusted upwards or downwards to fit the average level of the students attending.
Topics for each successive 8-week iteration of these classes will vary, so there is always new content for advanced students to master should they wish to take the course again. After each lesson, students are given an online homework assignment where they apply the lessons learned to new chess positions.
Classes take place from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm most Mondays.
